Hello Fellow Quilters! I am in Paducah, Kentucky to become a Quilt in a Day Certified Instructor. I am so excited to be here! I have been an Eleanor Burns fan for many years and have learned so much from her innovative piecing and application techniques. Her methods have made machine piecing and applique more effective and fun! Today was our first day. The workshop ends Friday. Sue Bouchard is our instructor. She is a quilt designer, workshop leader, and author for Quilt in a Day. She works closely with Eleanor. Eleanor was unable to come because she is recovering from a broken leg. However, Sue is doing a great job. I hope to learn a lot, make new quilting friends, and do a lot of sewing. After I become certified, I hope to demonstrate Eleanor's methods by giving workshops both in person and online. Stay tuned! We are off to a good start. Today we worked from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. We made samples that we can use when we teach workshops. The samples demonstrate each step in the process of using Quilt in a Day rulers to make quilt blocks. Here is a photo of samples that I made to demonstrate how to use the Quilt in a Day Calling All Geese ruler. We received Sue Bouchard's recent book Modern Migrations and learned how to teach others how to make this quilt using the ruler. We also learned how teach others to use the Triangle in a Square ruler, the Triangle Square Up ruler, and printed fusible which can be used to do applique. I can hardly wait until tomorrow! Happy Quilting!
