Welcome to Month 3 of the Barn Quilt BOM by Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting. On the first Wednesday of each month for a total of six months I will make the block for that month post photos and suggestions right here on my blog. I will also post on the Powered by Quilting Quilters Group Facebook page and on Instagram (#janda_bend_quilts). I am making three mini quilts from this pattern . In my post last month, I revealed my version of Mini Quilt 1. This month, I am beginning Mini Quilt 2. How do I get the pattern? You can purchase the Barn Quilt BOM pattern at Powered by Quilting. Note that this is an affiliate link. This means that if you use this link and buy the pattern, then I will receive a small compensation from Powered by Quilting. However, it does not affect the price of your pattern. Thank you for your support! My Hints and Suggestions for Block 3 This month, I made four blocks of Block 3! The second mini quilt uses four blocks of Block 3 and four blocks of Block 4. In my Introductory Post last month, I showed all of my focus fabrics. The fabrics for Block 3 are shown below. They are from You Are My Sunshine by Moda and solid white from Kona Cotton. To speed along the cutting of the quilt pieces, I am using my Accuquilt cutter to cut pieces for the half square triangles, the squares and wedges. I have a Go! Big Cutter and really love it. The cutter is electric and can cut large dies or two smaller dies at the same time. If you have been thinking about purchasing a cutter and/or dies, select dies are on sale, and there is a discount on the Go! Big cutter (affiliate links). See photos below. Using the Accuquilt system, meant that it was not necessary to trim "dog ears" after sewing. When sewing the green wedges, make sure that each pair of the wedges are mirror images of each other. See photos below. Continue making the blocks as directed. Please note that I made four pieced corner blocks instead of three because I am making the mini quilt, and I want it to be symmetrical. If you are making the quilt, you will need to make one of four corner blocks a plain square. Please see directions for more information. See photos below. Then, I was ready to piece the blocks. See photos below. I made two blocks of each colorway. See photos below. Want to See More Versions of Block !? Here are the Hosts who are Quilting Along: Abbie Danahy @ Sparkle On!
