I particularly enjoyed selecting the fabrics for the bonfire! This block is made by first piecing a 12 1/2" background square and then appliquing the bonfire to the center of the block. I chose to use green leafy fabric for the edges of the background square. The first step is to cut the pieces for the pieced background square. The photo shows the squares and rectangles that need to be cut. I made 8 Flying Geese using the beige background rectangles and 16 of the green squares, I made them using the flipped corners method. I drew a diagonal line on each of the 16 squares with a pencil and stitched along the line just inside the fold line. Then I trimmed the seam to 1/4" and pressed the seam toward the green fabric. I repeated this process for each Flying Geese patch. See photos. I sewed another square to the other side of rectangle along the drawn diagonal line. Then, I trimmed the seam to 1/4" and pressed the seam toward the green fabric. I used this process to make a total of 8 Flying Geese patches. See photos. I sewed 4 pairs of Flying Geese as shown below. Then I sewed the remaining 4 squares to each end of 2 Flying Geese pairs. See photos. Then I sewed a Flying Geese Pair to each side of the background square and added the Flying Geese Pairs with squares to the top and bottom of the block. See photos. I used raw edge applique to make the bonfire. I traced the shapes onto the paper side of the Heat n' Bond Lite and rough cut the shapes about 1/8" away from the line. I found it helpful to write the letter of each piece on the paper. Then I ironed the shapes onto the fabric following manufacturer's instructions. Finally, I cut out the shapes along the drawn lines. In order to assemble the bonfire, I used a non-stick applique sheet. This allowed me to assemble the bonfire without having to center the pieces on the background square. I removed the paper backing of each piece before lightly pressing it down. Once I had assembled the bonfire, I peeled it off the applique sheet, centered the bonfire on the background square and ironed it on. Finally, using a straight stitch in matching thread, I stitched around the exposed edges of each applique piece. See photos below. Where Can I FInd the Pattern and the Designer's Tutorial? It's obvious you enjoyed selecting your fabrics for this one--they are so perfect! Love the fabric you chose for the flames. And that green leafy fabric for the edges makes it seem like you're in a forest.

Fun fabrics, April! The leafy green accent makes it feel like a campfire in the woods, and the orange looks like flickering flames. :)

Now, I'm really liking that spotty fabric for the ends of your logs. Great bonfire!
