I am excited to be participating in the new Fat Quarter Shop Union Square Quilt Along! In today's post I show you how I made my version of the block and give helpful hints and photos. I have a link to the free pattern as well! The Union Square Block, quilt, and tutorials by the Fat Quarter Shop (affiliate link) are finally here! I used fat quarters from the Life Is Pink Edition by Art Gallery Color Master fabrics. The first step in making this straight forward block is to cut the fabric and make half-square triangles. See photos below. Make wedges using the Stitch and Sew Method. Then sew the tulip shaped pieces together. See photos below. Make four hour-glass patches. Remove the stitches from the seam allowance and swirl seams so that the piece will lie flat when pressed. See photos below. Lay out the pieces as shown below. Sew pieces in a row and then sew rows together to complete the block. See photo below. Download the free pattern.
